The blues take on Spurs at White Hart Lane trying to improve on their dismal record in North London.

City have only won once at White Hart Lane in the Premiership and that came courtesy of a 2-0 win in April 2003, with David Sommeil and Joey Barton both getting on the scoresheet.

Since then, City have lost seven of the following eight visits there with the only point coming in April 2004 when Nicolas Anelka scored to give City a share of the spoils. The only other joy the blues have achieved in North London was coming from 3-0 down to beat Spurs 4-3 in the 4th round of the FA Cup in February 2004.

City fared no better in the days before the Premiership, losing 21 of the 46 games played at the Lane and winning on just 12 occasions.

City’s biggest league win at White Hart Lane came in February 1979 when Brian Kidd, Peter Barnes and Mick Channon scored in a 3-0 win.

However, the blues have twice lost 5-1 in London in April 1934 and February 1958.

City’s longest unbeaten run at White Hart Lane is seven games January 1972 and February 1979. During these years, City won four and drew three.

Rather Meaningless Facts

City failed to score at White Hart Lane last season, the first time they have done that since September 2000.

The last time City did the double over Spurs was in the 1991/92 season. Niall Quinn grabbed the winner at The Lane, while David White secured the points at Maine Road. Both games ended 1-0.

The last time City and Spurs met on the opening day was at White Hart Lane in August 1990. That game also followed an England’s World Cup exit at Germany’s hands. The score on that day? Spurs 3-1 City

City take on West Ham in the final game of the season aiming to finish fifth in the top flight for the first time since Peter Reid led the blues to the same position in 1992.

But for the blues to achieve this they will have to win for only the third time in the Premiership at Upton Park.

The two teams have met nine times at West Ham, with the blues winning two and losing six and scoring just seven goals in the process. The majority of games between the two were played in the old first division but the blues didn’t fare much better.

From the 29 games played, City only emerged victorious on seven occasions, with The Hammers winning 16. City’s last win in East London was Sven Goran Eriksson’s first game in charge on the opening day of the 2007/08 season when the blues emerged 2-0 winners.

Overall, the blues have won just ten of the 41 league games played, with the Hammers winning 24. On average, City have scored just over a goal a game at Upton Park, scoring 42 times from 41 matches.

City have faced the Hammers just twice in cup competitions. In the FA Cup, they met in 2008, when the game finished 0-0 where as in the League Cup, the blues went to Upton Park for a 3rd round replay and won 2-1 in November 1984.

City’s biggest win at Upton Park has been 4-0, achieved in March 1962 and December 1969. But the blues biggest defeat at West Ham was 6-1 in May 1963.

City’s visit to West Ham remains the Hammers record attendance since Upton Park became all-seater when 35,550 witnessed a goal-less draw.

Players to play for both clubs include Trevor Sinclair, Steve Lomas and Stuart Pearce.

City take on Spurs in what is arguably City’s most important home game of the season. But they go into the match with Premiership history against them as Spurs hold the upper hand against the blues.

City have met Spurs 12 times in the Premiership but have only won two of those games while Spurs have won on eight occasions. The last time City beat the Londoners at home was in March 2008, when City won 2-1. The only other time City have beaten the visitors was in October 1994 when City thumped Spurs 5-2.

The majority of meeting between these two came in the old first division when Spurs visited Manchester on 46 occasions. However, the statistics show a very different story as City won 27 of those home meetings with Spurs winning just 7 games at City’s home.

Overall, the two teams have met 60 times at City, with the blues winning 31 to Spurs 15. Goal wise, City have scored 105 goals to Spurs 58

In cop competitions, the two have met 7 times at City in the FA Cup with both teams winning three each but in the League Cup, Spurs have won both meetings with the last during Sven’s reign when Spurs won 2-0

Arsenal are one of only four Premier League teams that City haven’t won at since the creation of the Premier League and if they are to keep the pressure on fourth placed Spurs, they need to win at the home of the Gunners for the first time since a 3-2 win at Highbury in October 1975.

Since that game, the blues have met Arsenal on their own patch 24 times but have only come away with a point on six occasions. Saturday’s game will be the 13th in the Premier League between the two, with Arsenal winning ten of the previous twelve fixtures.

Prior to the Premiership, the two teams met a total of 62 times at Highbury, with City winning just ten games to Arsenal’s 38. In terms of goals, Arsenal have a huge advantage, scoring on average two goals a game, while City compare with just one goal a game on average.

Overall, league games fall firmly in Arsenal’s favour, having won 51 of the 81 games played, while City just manage a measly 13.

The blues don’t fair much better in cup competitions. They have twice been drawn in the FA Cup at Arsenal and have won one and lost one, while in the League Cup, both games played have ended in Arsenal victories.

City will be hoping to improve on their Premier League record against United as the two teams meet in Saturday’s lunchtime kick-off.

The two teams have met twelve times in the Premier League at Eastlands, with City winning four to United’s seven, while only one draw has been played out since the league’s inception in 1992. That came in the league’s inaugural season when the teams battled to a 1-1 draw.

The majority of meetings between the two came in the old first division when blue met red 52 times at City under their three grounds. The blues just edge United out with 16 wins to United’s 15, while most of the games ended in draws. They also met six times in the old second division where United edged City in relation to wins, with the reds winning three to City’s two.

Overall, United have 25 league wins to City’s 22 but despite that, the blue have a better goals difference, scoring 102 to United’s 93.

It’s a different story in cup competitions though. They have met once in the FA Cup, which the blues won 2-0 and twice in the League Cup, both games also ending in City wins. They also met 23 times during the war years, with City coming out on top with 13 wins to United’s 7.
